Dead man walking

I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. — Galatians 2:20 NET

You’ve probably heard the expression “dead man walking.” The results from a search gives “Dead man walking is an idiom originating in U.S. prisons in the early 20th century, traditionally used to announce a condemned prisoner being led from their cell to execution.” We can only imagine the thoughts running through the inmate during this walk. Any normal person would likely be focused on their regrets and lost opportunities.

The apostle Paul instructs in Romans 8:12-13 “So then, brothers and sisters, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh (for if you live according to the flesh, you will die), but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body you will live.”

If we escort our flesh straightway to the execution chamber and by God’s spirit put it to death daily, then we are able to truly live a life worth living – a life for His glory.
