Uncomplicated Roles – Jesus and his God

The biblical roles of Jesus, as Messiah of God, Priest of God, Prophet of God, Son of God, and Servant of God, all distinguish him FROM God.

Can God anoint himself? Can God be his own Priest? Can God be his own Prophet? Can God be his own Son? Can God be his own Servant?

Trinitarians will claim Jesus (for them, the second person within God) assumed these roles within the “economy” of the Trinity. But this role “playing” by the second person of God doesn’t square with the plain meaning of the terms. And without an explicit biblical explanation of how these terms are being redefined in a Trinitarian way, Christians are right to read them in their plain meaning.

The biblical roles simply require Jesus to be someone other than God. — Unitarian Christian Alliance
